Having qualified as an Architect and a Programme & Project Management Professional in the UK, Mario specialises in leading complex projects with a diverse range of experience gained as a client, consultant, and contractor over the last twenty five years. He has particular expertise in motivating and leading large multi-disciplinary teams, setting up exceptional control processes, placemaking, and product development.
Mario has substantial international contacts established with private and public organisations including general governments, government agencies, funders, developers, contractors, architects, procurement and logistics partners.
He has several executive and non-executive roles with matured and start-up organisations including his family company, which is a substantial construction company established in 1973, with investments in fashion, tourism and property development.
Mario was accountable for the development of Athletes Village, built for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. The project consisted of 2,818 residential units, an academy, a policlinic, infrastructure and public realm across 70 hectares of master planned site with a construction value of £1.5Bn. Whilst delivered on time, under budget, to a level of quality surpassing all expectations, the Village has raised the industry benchmark in every aspect across Europe.
